Renovations……Does it ever end?

It’s great weather for Donegal. A comfortable 26 degrees, unlike Ambrieres, which is currently 36 degrees! But I reminisce about our times there often.

There is no other place to be in the world than Ireland on a hot day. It brings back memories of summer holidays here so many years ago.

RD and I are both on leave. We have been so busy this year with the renovations. This meant previous time off this year, has included work being done on the house, not least the debacle that was our bathroom refurb. So during this break the plan was to just relax, chillax, and take some time out. I think it’s something we need to train ourselves to do again. ……..

So Thursday (our first day off) our cess had blocked. RD spent over 2 hours trying to clear it. To no avail.

Friday, the drain men came out, and decided the whole cess had to,and could be, emptied. One of the things  I love about Irish people is that when it has to be done, it has to be done. Reminds me of my dad.

Undeterred by our strip of rewilding all the way round the paddock to the cess, or the fact the cess was grown over with gorse- that RD thought we would need a digger to clear, did not deter them. Within minutes the gorse was gone, the cess was open, and an hour later all cleared and clean. We now have 3 years piece of mind, as our cess is totally empty, in good condition, and huge! Life’ was showing the way!

On Saturday we did chill, got up late, pottered around the Co-op. We just felt absolutely knackered. Although when I look back on the last ten years, I can understand why.

But Sunday we were back at it. We gave our summerhouse its first coat of a beautiful seagrass coloured paint.

Monday we went shopping, and Tuesday, in our garden which was reading 31 degrees, we finished the summer house with a second coat.

Now, on Thursday, which  will be our 26th Wedding Anniversary the plumber is coming to fit the pump for the shower!

Sigh……..

But today we will sit in the paddock, in some dappled light from the trees, and chill.

I am trying to take each moment.
