You’re Not 36 Anymore!

When RD and I married we were both 36. I think in our heads we have got stuck there. Reluctant to admit we’re so much older.

As I wrote in my previous post we have renovated so many houses now, and we’ve just kept going.

When I was ill, all those years ago, a kind lady I worked with, pulled me to one side and told me that I had kept saying out loud ‘I need to take time off, I need to go sick.’ She explained that this was my subconscious telling me what I needed to do, and how I wasn’t listening.

I have never forgotten that lesson.

On Monday, to allow for our new flooring to be installed we had to take every piece of movable furniture out of our house, with the exception of our bedroom. Of course old ‘Sod’ got involved with his bloody law, and it was pouring with rain!

This meant that although we had covered everything with a tarp, once the fitters had finished we had to move it all back in again. No mean feat in 1 day!

Thank God we didn’t do the bedroom!

I found myself standing in the garden saying out loud ‘Girl you’re not 36 anymore!’ I knew then I needed to listen.

We did it, but it finished us. Both of my knees are now shot, and I have been in incredible pain, that is only now subsiding. We are proverbially fucked!

We have now had the conversation of how we have to recognise we cannot do things like that again. Things have to be broken down to smaller chunks,

It is what it is. It ain’t what it ain’t!

The flooring looks beautiful. just got to write out the 3 mile long snagging list. That WILL be broken down into small chunks.
