One of the most important things for us to do with our loan money was to fence our paddock so that Elfie and the Lakies could go out in the paddock, together.
We have over half an acre of land, you may remember we had the wall removed from around it. Then we had to fence it off again because the Lakies were, and still are, the Harry Houdini’s of the terrier world! It has been over 2 years. A long time in a dog’s life.

Elfie, our beautiful angel in black, is now 3 years old. She is a big girl who needs to run, who wanted to run in the paddock with her sisters. We could let Elfie out there, but those two little sods would have gone mad to get to her, got over the fence and then escaped. So poor Elfie had to stay in the garden around the house.
I am so acutely aware of time passing. After what happened to our Welshies, I am reminded how your time with an animal is so limited.
Is that what they are sent to teach us, a constant reminder to live in the here and now?
So when the loan came through a priority was fencing the paddock. RD did it all himself, just cracked on. As we do.
The rewards have been great since we set them all free 2 weeks ago. To see a dog run free, to see them all just chasing each other, was worth the money and all the effort. And of course, we can never forget the bubbles! Still Elfie’s favourite game.

This evening, after it had cooled down considerably, we sat in the paddock, something we couldn’t do either, and looked across at our beautiful Irish view, and watched the girls enjoying the moment.

We have been given a gift, for which we are eternally grateful.
We have ‘prioritised’ using time passing as the main impetus.

As I have written this I have answered my own question….Yes, dogs have been sent to us to remind us to live in the here and now.
Rosie.
Must have been a lot of work (and some expense!) to put up all that fencing, but well done! More freedom and happiness for the doggies and for both of you. I also wanted to say that I love the color you picked for the summer house!

Thanks Ellen. It pretty much ties in with the house, as you will see in the coming months. It’s a very ‘us’ ’ colour.
