I sat on the sofa and was loved.
The big girl was by my side
Belly showing, smiling
With the tufty one on my chest
Head snuggled as close as she could
Mad eyebrows tickling my chin
And the cat, the old cat
Content on the back of the sofa, snoring right beside my ear
Even the tiny one tried to join us
But there was no room.
I sat there
With the evening sun shining in through the back window
Rays creating stripes across the room
And I realised in that moment
how loved I was,

Absolutely charming! and a lovely choice of illustration – just right for that feeling of joyous contentment with the dear ones.Enjoy your summer!Ellen

Thank you. I decided to try poetry.

You see? And you’re a natural! You somehow combine the right words and images to evoke the feeling, without sounding predictable or banal. I love that. Once you have 20 or so poems that you like, you should send them to a publishing house that specializes in poetry. If they won’t publish you because you are an unknown, I’m sure that Chatgpt or Claude could tell you how to self-publish into a cute book that you can sell directly online. It’s not really about making money though, just the satisfaction of seeing your special poems collected and being sent out into the world. Hope you will consider it!
